I'm interested in principles of evolution and development at all scales, trends at the intersection of technology and society, enhancement of human cognitive and physical capabilities, and related philosophy of science, reason and metaethics.

I have strong technical skills in software development; text analytics, natural language processing, data-mining; and over twenty years as a technical manager in scientific instruments in the fields of microscopy and spectroscopy.

I'm father to two children, both grown and on their own, and grandfather to three.  Lizbeth and I love to travel but call Santa Barbara, California our home.
